Welcome to Junior English

The process approach to writing will be emphasized with particular attention to analytic and comparative writing, style, and self-editing. The course is designed to strengthen college level writing skills. These skills include exploration of essay forms, interpretation and analysis of text and synthesis of information. Research skills will be reviewed with particular attention to the incorporation of literary criticism into student writing. Honors Option
Honors is a voluntary program. To participate you must have an A in last semester's English course. You will complete all of the work assigned to the regular English students in addition to Honors in-depth analysis of text. This additional work is based on the book How to Reading Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster. Please consider reading this text as one of your book reports for this class. If you are missing any assignments or struggling with work in this or any of your classes you will be removed from the honors program and allowed to re-enroll after a semester of successful completion of regular curriculum work.
